● September 9–13, 2026
● Morges, Canton of Vaud, Switzerland
We plan to create the next
Giant Steps footprints in Switzerland, inspired by composers whose presence left a lasting mark on the country’s cultural life. Wagner, Bartók, Honegger, Strauss, and Tchaikovsky all spent time in Switzerland, where they composed masterpieces such as
Siegfried Idyll in Lucerne, the
Divertimento for Strings in Gstaad,
Four Last Songs in Montreux, and
The Soldier’s Tale.
The first step of this journey will take place in
Morges, where
The Soldier’s Tale was created through the collaboration between Igor Stravinsky and Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz. Morges thus marks the beginning of a broader journey across Switzerland, celebrating the dialogue between visual arts and music, in collaboration with musicians
Nicolas Chalvin and
Gyula Stuller.
Music travels as waves, reaching us and passing through our bodies as vibration. To share these felt, physical emotions with the public lies at the very heart of the project. We therefore imagine a form of artistic mediation: a pathway shaped with and by the audience, where musical oscillations take on the form of arabesques. The scenography, conceived as a singular and immersive environment, brings visual art into dialogue with sound: musicians (from the Universities of Music and the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra), actors, and spectators are enveloped within monumental sculptural “heads” of Ramuz and Stravinsky.
Giant Steps in Morges will consist of several events:
1. Indoor concerts- Piano and voice recital at the Belle Époque Hall of the Casino.
- The Soldier’s Tale at the Belle Époque Hall of the Casino: one school performance and one public performance.
- String ensemble concert at the Temple of Morges.
2. Outdoor solo performancesMusical performances throughout the city, in front of sites historically linked to the composers (
Morges Musical Walk). Dates to be confirmed depending on weather conditions.
3. Art installationInstallation of a giant footprint in the park of the Château de Morges, created in collaboration with HEMU students and pupils from the region.
4. Exhibition at Espace 81Presentation of the international
Giant Steps project and the
Swiss Giant Steps Morges edition, featuring texts, photographs, and videos before and during the event. Documentation on the artists and their works.
All events will be documented through video and photography during
Giant Steps Morges 2026.
